Guillotine Stop Lock

What?

West gate of the Guillotine Stop Lock. The whole lock is a grade II* listed building.

Where?

Stratford on Avon Canal, just east of its junction with the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. SP 055794.

Why?

A stop lock is used at canal junctions to prevent the loss of water from one canal to the other. This is the only stop lock in England with guillotine gates.

When

How?

From Bridge number 1 (grade II listed building) in Lifford Lane, camera facing approximately west towards the Junction.
